John N. Smith Endowed Scholarship

The scholarship is available to students who meet the following criteria: permanent resident of ECSU’s 21- county service area; classified as a junior or senior majoring in Mathematics Education or Computer Science; demonstrates financial need and possess an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and a minimum GPA of 3.2 in major. Each student applicant must submit a brief essay discussing why they deserve the scholarship (financial need and future career plans). If the student is a Mathematics Education major, three letters of recommendation must be submitted when applying for this scholarship. Two of the letters must be submitted from department Mathematics and Computer Science faculty and from a Mathematics Education faculty member. Computer Science majors must submit two letters of recommendation. The letters must be from faculty members in the department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Each applicant must submit a transcript.
